makes cool clothes for living an active, outdoor oriented
lifestyle. Not equipment mind you; this isn't necessarily
gear for a sporting purpose, but sporting gear for
every purpose. They aim to make the clothes that you
wear every day. The piece of clothing you reach for
to hike a mountain, walk in the park, take the chill
off a cool morning on your back porch or to wear out

DINNER
IN NAPA WITH GRETCHEN AND JOHN BERGGRUEN |

Art
of Enchantment
For one enchanted evening, a beautiful, stone Victorian
house on Lodi Lane in St. Helena will become the center
of the Bay Area art world. Join legendary gallerist,
collector, dealer and raconteur John Berggruen and his
wife Gretchen as they host a dinner party for 8 and
a conversation with Bay Area art star (and recently
elected Oxbow School Trustee) Christopher Brown. For
more than 35 years, John Berggruen has represented 19th
and 20th century stand-out artists and their work to
a Bay Area, national and even international clientele.
You can’t get much bluer-chip than Bischoff, Calder,
Carnwath, Mangold, Lichtenstein, Martin, Motherwell,
Oldenburg, Otterness and Ruscha. To that list add Christopher
Brown. Depending on the weather, your dinner with the
(art) stars will convene in the Berggruens lovely dining
room or outside in the garden. Either way, for a lover
of art, this promises to be one enchanted evening

DINNER
WITH MARGRIT & ROBERT MONDAVI & MANUEL NERI |

|
Dinner
for Eight at the Summit of the Napa Valley
Join Napa Valley legends Robert and Margrit Mondavi
at their home on the summit of Wappo Hill for an elegant
dinner, wines specially selected from the Mondavi personal
library, and stimulating conversation with San Francisco
figurative artist Manuel Neri. If the American wine
industry has a dean, it is surely Robert Mondavi. He,
along with family, friends, colleagues and competitors—and
Margrit, of course!--transformed the Napa Valley into
one of the world’s premium wine producing regions.
Not content, the Mondavis have been instrumental in
transforming the Valley into a center of art and culture
as well, including major philanthropic support of local
arts organizations such as Copia: The American Center
for Wine, Food and the Arts; the Napa Valley Opera House;
and of course our very own Oxbow School. “Hospitality”
is synonymous with “Mondavi” and you will
dine on the creativity of the Mondavis’ finest
chefs and feast your mind on conversation with one of
the Bay Area’s leading artists who has explored
the possibilities of the human figure in every medium
imaginable.

CHEZ
PANISSE |

|
Dinner
for 10 Where the Legend Was Born
In 1971, when Alice Waters and a few idealistic friends
decided to open a restaurant in colorful Berkeley, who
could have known that they were also starting a revolution?
From the beginning, Alice and her partners and friends
(including Patricia Curtan, wife of Oxbow’s own
Stephen Thomas) tried to do things the way they would
like them done at a dinner party at home. They were
convinced then that the best tasting food is organically
grown, harvested in ecologically sound ways, and handled
by people who are taking care of the land for future
generations. Vegetables fresh out of local gardens,
fruit right off the branch and vine, fish straight from
the sea—more than 60 suppliers now provide Alice’s
restaurant with ingredients redolent with goodness,
challenging the creativity and restraint of Chez Panisse’s
master chefs, trained by Alice herself, to keep it simple—and
simply unforgettable. Dinner for 10 at Chez Panisse:
where America’s ideas about good food changed
forever.

Refined,
eclectic, sensuous, the haute cuisine of Japan will

of traditional Japanese and Pacific Rim cuisine for
which Sushi Ran has become famous. With each course,

a handful of Bay Area restaurants to recieve a coveted
Michelin star, consistently ranks in the Top Ten Bay

An
Artful Week for Two in Left Bank Luxury
Step
back into a bygone era of luxury living in the City
of Lights’ famed Rive Gauche—a wondrous
week in the Cristal Luxury Suite. The Cristal was built
in 1625 for the nobleman in the building, during the
Baroque era of Moliere, the Three Musketeers and Louis
XIV, the Sun King. Restored to perfection, absolutely
no expense or effort has been spared to make this on
of the finest properties in the finest part of Paris.
Located in the most coveted neighborhood in all of Paris,
the Faubourg St. Germain area of the Left Bank. Shopping,
museum-going, fine dining café-ing or simply
strolling, the neighborhoods of the Left Bank and Ile
St. Louis are endlessly fascinating. And did we mention
gallery hopping? Join Paris-based artist Tatiana Trouvé
in her studio for coffee and conversation, organized
by Galerie Almine Rech. Trouvé will be featured
in this year’s Venice Biennale and in the special
exhibitions section of Art Basel. Then, inspired, set
out on a specially crafted tour of the Left Bank gallery
scene.
