Oxbow Life According to Phoebe and Izzy

09/10/18

Special thanks to current students Phoebe and Izzy for this week's write up and for sharing images from their works in progress!

During the last week of our academic rotations, students in the Humanities class took the traditional “What I Live For” hike on Wednesday and participated in a documentary viewing on Saturday centered around the work of Marina Abromović. Math students have been continuing their independent research projects, and the Science class has already started digging their hands into the gardens. Printmaking and New Media have been wrapping up their Wabi-Sabi projects and had class presentations on Friday. The Sculpture and Painting studios have been completing their box projects and work from all studios will go up in the gallery next week!

Gardening made fig jam this week, accompanied by baguette and brie! Alex hosted a bread baking workshop in which students “got to know bread.” It was full of good food and bad jokes. The Spread the Love committee hosted an OxProm! There was dancing in the library and a campfire courtesy of Greg!

Students will rotate through the studios, academics, and largely co-curricular offerings. Though each rotation seeks to cover similar ground, the classes are altered (pre-planned or in the moment) to fit the current group and broaden the scope of knowledge covered in previous classes.
