Summer Camp 2018 Position

Digital Media Faculty  - Oxbow Summer Art Camp

Since 1999, The Oxbow School has offered a one-semester, visual arts-based program for high school juniors and seniors. In 2004, Oxbow added a unique summer camp program, Oxbow Summer Art Camp, for youth ages 14-16. The camp features high-level professional art instruction using an interdisciplinary approach consisting of short-term projects, a personal final project, field trips, and co-curricular activities.

As a residential program, staff members are involved with the students throughout the entire day, both inside and outside the studios. Staff members must be willing to make a full-time commitment to the students during the course of the camp and accept the demands this will place on their time and attention. All staff reside on campus mid-June through early August. These are paid positions and room and board is provided. The exceptions to this are the teaching assistant interns who must live locally and be available minimum of 5 hours/day. These interns positions include stipends and meals will be provided. *Please note that the minimum staff age requirement is 20, and 19 for interns.

Preference will be given to applicants who meet the following:

• You are passionate about art!

• You enjoy working with teens and have prior teaching or leadership experience in a school or camp setting.

• You are able to make a full-time commitment to the program and bring a high level of participation to camp for the duration of the program.

• You have a college degree (or are currently seeking a degree) in art, youth development, or teaching, and/or have a career in the arts.

• You thrive in intense environments, are conscientious, willing to work hard, and are committed to the safety, well-being, and growth of each member of the camp community.
