A
PRIVATE EVENING AT DESCANSO GARDENS FOR 10 PEOPLE |

|
Join
Executive Director David Brown and Manager of Horticulture
Brian Sullivan for a rare, special and private evening
at Descanso Gardens in LaCanada Flintridge, Califorinia.
The evening begins with a welcome champagne beneath
the spreading limbs of an 800-year-old coast live oak—one
of Descanso’s signature species and collections--in
the International Rose Garden, the starting place for
your private tour of this historic landscape and botanic
garden. Brian and David will take you through the Rose
Garden; Descanso’s rustic garden of California
natives; both East and West Camellia forests (which
together have been recognized nationally as a “Camellia
Collection of Distinction”, coming to the unusual
Japanese-style Garden and Full Moon Teahouse for hors
d’oeuvre. From there, the party will move up the
hill, through the oak canopy to the historic Manchester
Boddy House, recently restored to its Hollywood Regency
glamour as the 43rd Pasadena Showcase House of Design.
The 160 acres that form Descanso Gardens today lay undeveloped
when E. Manchester Boddy, publisher of the Los Angeles
Daily News, purchased the land in 1937. Boddy retained
noted Beverly Hills architect James E. Dolena to design
an elegant two-story mansion of 22 rooms. From the house’s
gracious terrace, where dinner will be served by Descanso’s
exclusive caterer, Chef Joachim Spichal’s Patina
Group, you’ll enjoy a panoramic view of the oak
forest and San Gabriel Valley below. Boddy named his
estate "Rancho del Descanso," which in Spanish
means "rest" or "repose". Today,
Descanso Gardens receives nearly 300,000 visitors and
guests annually—but on your special night, the
mysterious and evocative landscape that is Descanso
will be yours alone.

to availability and must be redeemed by September 2008

Collective is the first of it's kind in Napa Valley,

the most experienced and talented winemakers in the
Valley. The man behind Vintner's Collective is Garret
Murphy, who dreamed of creating a place where wine lovers
could taste the wines of some of the best winemakers
in Napa Valley, and where smaller wineries without their
own tasting room could showcase their wines and introduce
them to consumers. With a little Irish luck and good
intuition, the location for Vintner's Collective in
the landmark Pfeiffer building made the idea a reality,
and current changes and growth in downtown Napa made
for good timing.

OLIVER
RANCH TOUR FOR 10 PEOPLE |

|
Nestled
in the heart of Sonoma County, this 100-acre Alexander
Valley ranch is one of the country's premier private
reserves for site-specific art. In 1985, Steven and
Nancy Oliver commissioned their first piece "Shepard's
Muse" a multi-media sculpture by New York sculptor
Judith Shea. Almost 20 years later the Oliver's have
comissioned 18 works that rise up over the rolling hills
of the ranch's landscape
As
life long art patrons, Steven and Nancy Oliver see the
ranch as a model for philanthropy and a way to nurture
the growth and development of artists. Rather than working
with a gallery dealer, a museum director or curator,
artists opt to work with the Olivers for a more "earthy
experience" often forging close and meaning ful
relationships wiht hte family while in residency at
the ranch
Available
Fall 2008 only. Dates for Fall 2008 tour schedule will
be released in July of 2008, at which time Oliver Ranch
management will contact the winning bidder.
No lunch or picnic allowed on Ranch grounds post-tour.
