Celeste Sazani

Math + Dorm Head

Celeste Sazani grew up by flower fields on Z street in Lompoc.

Mathematics has served as a solace and muse to her since childhood.

She received a BA in pure mathematics from UC Santa Cruz, where she began her never-ending inquiries into the history and philosophy of mathematics. As a teacher, a question that she returns to is, “Who is benefitting from the methods we employ in math education?” She believes that math is best taught alongside its historical context and not as an entity isolated from human life. Celeste is invested in cultivating an interactive learning environment that allows for both creativity and rigor. She loves math questions, doodling, painting, magical realism, ball sports and felines.
