Lucio Arellano

Summer New Media Faculty

Lucio Arellano (he/they) is a filmmaker, visual artist, and arts educator from Rockford, Illinois who is interested in exploring the non-linear and inter-personal relationships found between the concepts of time, tradition, memory, and home through combinations of expressive digital, analog, and appropriated media. A first generation immigrant with parents hailing from Thailand and Mexico, he creates images as a means to both aid the understanding of those emigrating and to uncover the cultural boundaries each individual adheres to during their transitory experience. An MFA recipient in the Cinematic Arts program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Lucio joins Oxbow this summer to lead the New Media studio.
