Mel Preimesberger

College Admissions Counseling, Napa, California

Mel Preimesberger moved to Napa on the heels of her husband accepting a position as the CFO of the Doctor's Company. SoCal natives, the Preimesbergers had never visited Napa, and it remained on their bucket list. (Mel finds this especially funny because she always referred to herself as a "five-miler"—attending a private girls high school in Los Angeles five miles from home, graduating from USC five miles from home, and settling and raising her family five miles from her childhood home.) Newly transplanted to Napa, Mel became involved at Justin Siena High School where she is the Chair of the Board of Trustees. A close friend of Mel's told her about Oxbow, and encouraged Mel to become a part of the Oxbow community.

Mel's background is steeped in higher education, and shaped by her time as an Associate Director of Admission at USC. Her involvement at Oxbow has allowed her to pursue her passion of helping to educate young students, and has also allowed her to find a community of leaders and folks with the same passion. She has enjoyed working with the board and draws on what she learns from fellow board members to lead the board at Justin Sienna.

Mel's current work is that of an Independent Educational Consultant, helping students through the daunting task of college applications, and her downtown office serves as a haven for students to navigate the sometimes-overwhelming process. During her spare time, she loves ordering tall caramel macchiatos with whipped cream (no matter the temperature outside), traveling, reading, taking visiting friends wine tasting and doting on her three grandchildren.
