Piero Spadaro OS6

Artist, Director of Hang Art Gallery, San Francisco, California

Spending summers at his grandmothers home in Napa, Piero Spadaro saw Oxbow develop literally ground up. Fast forward to 2002, Piero joined the class of OS6, noting his graduation a pivotal moment where his parents recognized he was on a steadfast artistic path. More importantly, he became conscious of holistic living where scholarly pursuits could hold equal weight to ones art practice, or gastronomy. Selecting the Maryland Institute College of Art, he graduated magna cum laude majoring in General Fine Art with a minor in Art History and concentration in printmaking. At graduation he promptly moved home to the Bay Area, returning a practicing artist represented by galleries on both coasts, and a full time job offer working for Hang Art gallery in the Union Square neighborhood of San Francisco which he now owns. At the end of his Visiting Artist residency, William T. Wiley gave each OS6 student a printer proof of a book he was publishing spurring an insatiable appetite for art collecting, presently The Spadaro collection holds over 400 artworks, including 8 Wileys. An avid enthusiast for all people and things Oxbow, he officially joined the Ox-board in 2018.
