THE OXBOW SCHOOL:

In 1998, arts philanthropists Ann Hatch and Robert and Margrit Mondavi sought to create a studio art environment where artists, faculty, and students would collaborate in the practice of intellectual investigation and artistic inquiry. As the nation’s only art-focused semester boarding program for high school students, Oxbow now stands out as a truly unique educational experience and pedagogic model, situated in a beautiful and immersive setting that is conducive to fostering deep critical thinking and student growth. Oxbow is centered on a belief in the exponentially positive impact that direct contact with artists can have on young minds. These experiences wed intellect with passion and help many students identify the direction they will take in college and the focus of their adult lives. Making art is a chance to reinvent the adolescent self in the step forward towards adult life.
