Jennifer Wechsler

Jennifer Bailey Wechsler joined the Oxbow Board in 2016 and currently serves on the Head Transition, Development and Trustees Committees. She has worked as a designer for the last 25 years developing licensed products for art, media, publishing, and museums with companies like Disney and HarperCollines. Jennifer has been involved with the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco & SFMOMA's SECA and MAC. She grew up in the Bay Area, attended UC Berkeley, and lives in Sausalito and Inverness with her husband and two children who both attended Oxbow.

Oxbow School is one of the preeminent choices for creative high school students interested in the arts. Their project-based, integrated approach to learning mirrors the approach of many top art schools. At California College of the Arts, we are thrilled to see applicants who have attended Oxbow because we know they are well prepared for the rigors of college level work. Hey guys! OS33 alumni here! I received a full ride to California College of the Arts and just wanted to tell you guys that if it wasn't for the Oxbow experience and the great faculty who saw the potential in me I wouldn't have gotten as far as I did. I am still waiting for other colleges at the moment but I think this might be the school I will attend this fall!

The art that goes on in most high schools is usually relatively skill-based. At Oxbow, there is more emphasis on looking and seeing and more critical thinking about what you are doing, the human connection, that personal element. Through art you can begin to understand yourself better. That may be the biggest eye-opener for students. It is almost a preview of college. Get out of the mechanical factory high school education and get into something open, new, and invigorating in a small environment.
