Some Kind of Shelter, 2013

Hard and Soft is an exhibition of selected ceramic sculptures by four women artists including Rebecca Manson, Lynda Benglis, Hilary Harnischfeger, and Arlene Shechet at the ACME gallery in Los Angeles, CA. They use ceramics in their work to explore and blur the distinctions between pliable and rigid, accidental and intentional, seductive and grotesque. The opening is Saturday, February 14 from 6-8pm and open through March 14, 2015.

"Rebecca Manson makes a series of marks and strokes with small bits of clay, in varying shades of off-white with hints of color. These small gestural marks Manson then combines into her large-scale sculptures and wall reliefs. Sometimes resembling an archaeological excavation, the resulting sculptures are simultaneously haunting and elegant."ACME Gallery

Manson was a Fall 2013 Visiting Artist Lecturer and is an Oxbow alum (OS14),
