The opening reception is November 6th from 6-8pm and the exhibition continues through December 20, 2014. A catalogue with an essay by Jacques Khalip accompanies the exhibition.
"The work on view looks to the improbable images and the charged warning of an Emily Dickinson poem to explore the mystery of interiority and the boundaries we violate to satisfy our desire to know."Click for full press release.

Mildred Howard's exhibition Selective Memories opened at the Fresno Art Museum on September 26 and runs through January 4, 2015.
"Howard's works are a constant interchange between formalism and content as she becomes more committed to the process of retrieval-selecting and working with repurposed materials to capture and peel back the layers that form her ideas and inform the embedded stories that she pushes forward, conscious of the layering of time and how time brings historical perspective to life."
Howard is the recipient of Fresno Art Museum's 2014 Distinguished Woman Artist award. Since 1988 the museum's Council of 100 has presented the award to internationally recognized women artists who have spent thirty or more years in the studio and have created a unique and prestigious body of work.
Mildred was OS3's Visiting Artist. See more of her work at gallerypauleanglim.com.

Megan Broughton, our Residential Life Advisor (and OS15 Alum) is in El Bruc, Spain as an artist in residence on a support stipend at Can Serrat for the month of October. Can Serrat offers two Writers and two Visual Arts full stipends annually. It is located in a rustic farmhouse 45 kilometers outside Barcelona within the confines of Montserrat Natural Park.

Megan draws inspiration from the breathtaking local geography, views of Catalunya's sacred mountain and artists from around the world. Exploring her artist practice, she's working on a series focusing on similar forms, characteristics, and vocabularies between human bodies and natural forms.

Oxbow has it's own special blend coffee Ox-Bohemian Brew direct from Alta Organics Coffee and Tea Company located along the coast in Davenport. California. Alta Organics is dedicated to supporting the farmers, the processors, the importers / exporters and all those who bring them the beans to make us the best cup of coffee around.
If at any point Oxbow doubts the good it does, I just want to reassure you all that you’re changing the lives of young artists every semester.
— Colin Davis, Fall 2009
Oxbow opened me up to what was out there in the world to go out and grab, and gave me so much that I take with me everywhere I go, with everything I do.
— Nina Palomba, Spring 2008
Our daughter graduated summa cum laude from NYU with a double major in Studio Art and Art History. She is now working for Calvin Klein. She is contemplating getting a law degree and pursuing a career repatriating art objects. She still keeps in touch with several of her Oxbow classmates and they have regular reunions in Manhattan... I would say that Oxbow was the best semester that any of my four children spent in their cumulative 16 years of high school. Our daughter was the right kid, and for the right kid you do a wonderful job. You changed her life. Thank you.
