Dean Longhofer

Dean Longhofer participated in a mentoring session at the St. Johns County Juvenile Correctional Facility with his college organization Flagler College Enactus. The students at the facility learn about fiber optic cabling and receive certification if they successfully complete the final exam. Dean encourages other Oxbow students to get involved with their college organizations.

Dean Longhofer joined Flagler Enactus a club dedicated to creating sustainable projects that help people improve their quality of life and standard of living. He’s working on a new project called Passport Pretzels to help the St. Francis House by creating a sustainable income for the transitional living facility and it's residents.

Sebastian Guerra and local artist Nick Cann are featured in the Napa Valley Register article "A Meeting of Artists." To quote Sebastian from the article "Learning at Oxbow gave me the opportunity to meet students from all over the country,” he said. “They came from various socio-economic backgrounds. I still remained friends with several other students.” Sebastian's end-of-semester project at Oxbow was a large scale oil on canvas portrait of a fellow student.

Dean Longhofer

Dean Longhofer was accepted into four schools, St. John University, University of West Florida, Florida Atlantic University, and his quote on quote "dream college" Flagler College. He sure hopes all of you are doing extremely well and will remember Oxbow all the way to the grave. He asks for updates on any news and even some stupendous student work!

Our daughter graduated summa cum laude from NYU with a double major in Studio Art and Art History. She is now working for Calvin Klein. She is contemplating getting a law degree and pursuing a career repatriating art objects. She still keeps in touch with several of her Oxbow classmates and they have regular reunions in Manhattan... I would say that Oxbow was the best semester that any of my four children spent in their cumulative 16 years of high school. Our daughter was the right kid, and for the right kid you do a wonderful job. You changed her life. Thank you.

In the year leading up to Oxbow, I became obsessed with the program, I was entranced with reading testimonials and researching interdisciplinary learning styles. When I arrived at Oxbow I was never disappointed, despite my endless expectations. I will forever cherish the time I spent at Oxbow and the connections I made there. Through Oxbow I was able to hone into the ideas I was thinking about, to refine my artistic process and to see the world in a new light every day of my life. I'm not going to say that without Oxbow I wouldn't be the person I am today, but I will say that without Oxbow it would have taken me at least four years to become who I am after one Oxbow semester.
